Christmas comes early!

We now have a trio of Norfolk Black Turkeys, I'm so happy!

I have to point out these guys are not for Christmas Dinner, well I'm sure Ron would say other wise at the moment as the stag (male) hit Ron over the head with his wings this afternoon! lol

Just before the summer holiday Ron and I had talked about getting a few turkeys in for xmas , but thought we'd go with the meat chickens to start with.
But today while I was looking on the pet ad pages, I found a lady locally selling them off cheap! I had to find out more. Within a couple of hours we were all on our way to get them.

I'm very jealous of this lady - she had horse, chickens, pigs, peacocks and the turkeys. She had just about enough land as we would want, it just lacked a house lol
One day..... One day I'll have my proper little small hold.... One day

Reusing & Recycling.....

As the weather is getting a little bit colder, I know my salad outside won't last long. So I thought it's about time I sowed some indoors. But I have 1 problems with that, and her name is Willow!

My 9 year old cat has always had a think for anything green!
I had a nice range of house plants until I got her for my 21st birthday. With in a month they had all died from her eating or knocking them on floor.
So whatever I grown my salad in it has to be cat proof!

That's it! Cat proof.....
What can't be any more cat proof than Diego's old OVO Habitrail units!
Poor Diego the hamster die early this week at the age of 2, which we are all sad about. But I'm sure he'd be happy with us using his tank to grow some salad.

So, that's what I've done.
I layer of compost in the bottom, sowed the mixed salad leaf seeds and watered. I've closed the lid and put the stoppers on the tube holes - Now I have a very strange looking mini greenhouse.

I have few other units that I will do the same with over the next few weeks, spacing them out by a week.

I wonder what else I could grow in them?? mmmmm...........
